'I've been in two Ribbit Up Productions over the past eighteen months and haven't regretted a second of it. It's lots of fun and I would do it again.'

THINKING ABOUT AUDITIONING FOR A RIBBIT UP PRODUCTION?

Think you have what it takes to dress up as a frog in front of teachers, parents and friends speaking only in haiku? Then we want you!

When I auditioned for The Little Country That Could, my hands were sweaty, my mouth was dry and the butterflies in my tummy were having violent convulsions. But it's not really that terrifying and I was successful and received the part of Anarchy Now, one of the radical protesters in the thick of the action.

When you audition for a play you have to present a short monologue (between one to two minutes), but the only people watching are Mr Cutler and the others auditioning on that day, and they're in for the same blank stare Mr Cutler gives everyone.

Our main school production is held in Term One of each year, so the auditions are held towards the end of Term Three the previous year. The most important things to do in your audition are to: be confident, know your lines and act! But don't worry, if you make a little mistake you can always start again. And for all of you Year Sevens and Eights that want to audition.go for it! There will be roles for you guys, too. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask Mr Cutler or any Ribbit Up Productions members.

I wont lie to you; being involved with the play is very hard work. But performing in front of 200+ people four nights in a row doesn't get any better. Adrenaline is high, hearts are beating furiously and the lights are, well, blinding. Nothing could have stopped the cast of The Little Country That Could once we went backstage for a 'Team Dudd'. The cast and crew grew so close through our passion for acting and the fact that we were stuck together for hours on end.

All in all, the school play is truly a unique experience, not found anywhere else. So what are you waiting for? Get your monologue when auditions are advertised in the daily notices, pick a day to audition and Ribbit Up!
