Congratulations on being offered a position in Year 7, 2010 at Smith's Hill High School. Welcome to our school community.

All new students and their parents are invited to attend an Information Evening in the School's Multi-purpose Unit on Tuesday November 17th at 7.00pm. The Multipurpose Unit is situated next to the courts in Keira Street and can be accessed by walking up the driveway between the courts and the Multi-purpose Unit.

At this meeting you will be provided with greater detail about the school, the Student Handbook and Curriculum Handbook, and you will be given the information you need for the beginning of 2010. You will also have the opportunity to meet key members of staff and representatives of the parent and student body. Since you have accessed our school website http://www.smithshill-h.schools.nsw.edu.au/ you will be aware that it has a section for Year 7, 2010 and I encourage you to continue to explore the information it contains. We will continue to add to it over the next few months. In it we will be including a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section to assist you. As new questions arise from your year group, we will place answers in this section. I also request that you contact the school with any questions you have prior to the information evening. We have found in the past that parents have been given some quite misleading information about such things as our school fee structure and how we grade students and organise classes and I am happy to talk to you about these and any other concerns you may have.

There will be an Orientation Day for Year 7 Students at the school on Tuesday November 24th and we will provide further details of this at the Information Evening. It will commence at 8.25am and conclude at 2.30pm.

You will be receiving information from the school by mail. I would appreciate it if you would complete the enrolment form and other documents included in this information and return it to the school as soon as possible to assist us with our planning. We would like to keep in contact with you and will send information about events which occur throughout the year. Email addresses are requested in the enrolment form and help to facilitate communication.

The Year Adviser for 2010 will be Mr Andrew Weekes who is on our Mathematics staff.
